Abstract A 52-year-old female patient was admitted to the Emergency Department with an isolated thoracic spinal stabbing a retained knife. She haemodynamically stable normal peripheral neurological examination. CT scan 3D image reconstruction showed blade had collided and lodged into T11 vertebrae tip in close proximity but missing cord, aorta inferior vena cava. multidisciplinary team, including anaesthetists vascular, neuro, general surgeons, agreed upon treatment strategy. The knife safely withdrawn operating theatre prone position under sedation local anaesthesia. Following procedure, examination remained normal, MRI revealed no cord injuries. In this case report we discuss initial approach managing patients penetrating injury. We elaborate on role of pre-operative imaging using reconstruction, where possible, assess extent injuries, as well as, importance timely input from specialties based foreign body, how extract it having contingency planning for any potential post withdrawal complications.

Transorbital Stab Injury with Retained Knife: A Narrow Escape
Transorbital penetrating injuries are unusual but may cause severe brain damage if cranium is entered. These kinds of injuries are dangerous as the walls of orbit are very thin, hence easily broken by the otherwise innocent objects. Because of the very critical anatomical area involved, these injuries pose a serious challenge to the physicians who first receive them as well as the treating team...
متن کاملThoracic spine stab injury with pneumocephalus and pneumorrhachiasis: a unique case report and review of literature
Trauma to skull base or sinus is the most common cause of pneumocephalus. There are only few published reports of traumatic pneumocephalus secondary to penetrating injury of upper spine, epidural anaesthesia and lumber puncture. Till date only one case of pneumocephalus and pneumorrhachiasis after thoracic spine stab injury is reported in available English literature that too associated without...
متن کاملPENE1RATING HEAD INJURY WITH A KNIFE-A CASE REPORT
A case of a transcranial stab wound is presented in which the patient was stabbed in the left temporal bone with a knife which, after traversing the tentorium, passed through the occipital squama and its tip reached the upper cervical area. The subject underwent surgery and was discharged without neurological sequelae. The fundamental principles of management in this specific type of head ...

Retained foreign bodies in the maxillofacial region are uncommon and rarely reported. In this case, a report of a penetrating facial injury with a retained knife blade is presented. The importance of thorough clinical and radiographic examinations in order to prevent the possibility of a missed or failed diagnosis is discussed.
متن کاملLymphangioma of the Thoracic Spine with Epidural Compression: A Case Report
Lymphangiomas are benign lesions consisting of abnormal proliferations of lymphatic vessels. Lymphangiomas associated with bone involvement, particularly in vertebral bodies, accompanied by cord compression, are extremely rare, and our literature review yielded only a few relevant reports. We describe a 61-year-old man presenting with progressive paraparesis and sphincter disturbance of 5 month...
